1. Get to the essence of data protection without the legal mumbo jumbo.
2. Learn how to do it right: Common pitfalls, a proper journey, and skills required to get there.
3. Demystify myths around data protection independence as well as risk and assurance.
4. Learn how to survive an investigation by regulators from a high-profile case study.

This web seminar is delivered in four concise and practice-oriented parts.

First part

We will explore the essence of data protection. You will learn how to think about it in the right sequence, how document inheritance results from interrelationships and dependencies as well as what capabilities your organization should have based on explicit, implied, and hidden requirements.

Second part

The focus is on how to get data protection compliance right by looking at common pitfalls, root causes, and how to avoid them. Then, a step-by-step analysis sets the path to demonstrating value and increasing trust to your customers and shareholders, distinguishing the skills and experience required to establish the best systems and processes.

Third part

This part will demystify common myths especially about the role of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and the need for independence to avoid conflict of interest. Then the content shifts to fixing real-life risks and obtaining reasonable assurance as opposed to tick-the-box compliance. Then, insights will be shared about how to anticipate requirements in jurisdictions where data protection requirements are beginning to emerge.

Fourth part

This part consists of a painful, high-profile case study from Europe where literally everything that could go wrong actually went wrong during an investigation by the regulator. Learn from the valuable lessons of this case study to avoid making them yourself!
