Dr. Claire cassar
Dr. Claire Cassar is a lawyer by profession. She is an entrepreneur who has set up a company in partnership called Moving Ads Malta Ltd. which focuses on transit advertising in partnership the Malta Public Transport company in Malta. More recently Dr. Cassar together with Ms. Phyllis Muscat set up a medical tourism agency in Malta to act as regional partners for TEMOS but also to act as facilitators for medical tourism in the Maltese islands. Dr. Cassar continues to provide commercial legal advice to a select number of clients. She is also a member of the Coordinating Board of Cultural Projects in Malta which includes the development of the first Maltese International Contemporary Art Space.
Previously she occupied the role of CEO of HAUD Systems where she lead HAUD’s international expansion and oversaw the ongoing commercial success of the product portfolio. She joined HAUD in 2012 from its parent group FORTYTWO Group, where she provided counsel for its subsidiaries, advising on legal matters and corporate governance. During 2015 Dr.Cassar was also chair of the first Women’s Forum organised within the ambit of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting which was held in Malta.
Her mobile sector experience dates back to 2002, when she began working for Vodafone Malta, heading up the Legal, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs departments, before being seconded to Vodafone Qatar as marketing manager. More recently, she held the position of consumer sales manager for Vodafone Malta and was responsible for direct and indirect sales channels.
An entrepreneur who set up several businesses within the health and wellness sector, Ms. Muscat was also the first woman to be appointed Chairperson of a media group; One Productions Ltd. She is involved in civil society, having co-founded the European Confederation of Professional Beauticians and Cosmeticians (CEPEC) and the Malta Association of Beauty-Therapists (MABT). Ms. Muscat also served on the executive committee of the Maltese-American Chamber of Commerce, the Malta Association of Women in Business and Action for Breast Cancer Foundation. Before venturing into the business world, Ms. Muscat completed her studies in nursing and worked as a state-registered theatre nurse at St. Lukes Hospital.
Phyllis Muscat headed the Taskforce of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which was held in Malta in 2015. As host of CHOGM 2015, the Government of Malta has appointed Ms. Muscat to coordinate the administrative and logistical arrangements. She is also a member of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) Advisory Board and a director on the Executive Board of CWIEC.
Ms. Muscat serves as Chairperson for the Coordinating Board for Cultural Projects (CBCP) which includes the development of the first Maltese International Contemporary Art Space.
She is also a mother of two, Michaela and John.
